The University of North Florida Takes Lessons from the French

Like many universities in the U.S, the University of North Florida has its fair share of traffic problems. With a high number of students and employees commuting to campus every day, there always seems to be more people looking for parking than there are spots available.

In order to help alleviate the parking and traffic problem, our team would like to propose a new program at the University of North Florida which borrows the idea of “Vélib” from the French. As the following video shows, Vélib  (short for Vélo Liberté, or Bicycle Freedom) is the largest public self service bicycle rental system in the world. The goal of the program is to encourage travelers to use bicycles for short trips rather than using their vehicles in order to reduce traffic congestion and parking problems.


 UNF Impliments the Osprey Bike Share Program

Borrowing ideas  described in the above video, our team would like to offer some recommendations to help the University of North Florida take steps towards it’s own bicycle sharing program:
